11 Ways to Spot a Great Internet Review From a Junk Review

January 11th, 2010 by admin

Every day we make purchases – from cars, to clothes, food, coffee, and services for our businesses such as stationary, computers, equipment, and even SEO products and services.  At least those of us who do our own SEO work for our businesses.

Regardless of who you are, you probably have pruchased something after reading an online review.  Sometimes you ended up with a good product, other times perhaps not so good.

How can you tell the difference between a good internet product review and a bad internet product review?

The following is 11 ways to spot a great internet review from a junk review.1. Is it nothing but a sales page with hype, large lettering, and nothing but overpromises?2. Is it a deperate plea in order to get you to buy the product or service?3. How is the quality of the rest of the site?4. Is it an affiliate link?  Don’t get me wrong, affiliate links aren’t necessarily bad.  In fact many affiliate link reviews are great.  However, it’s good to know what you’re dealing with.

5. What are the other reviews on the site like?6. Is there any good detailed information in the review?  Did you learn antything about your prospective purchase?7. Did the writer try out or buy the product or service?8. Have you compared the review to other reviews.  It’s definitely worthwhile to read a few reviews, especially for bigger purchases.9. Did you get to the review through a pay-per-click link?10. Don’t be fooled if it’s a popular publication or website. They too have affiliations and paid ads (i.e. advertorials).11. Does the review disclose both good sieds and bad sides to the product youre reading about?  An objective review will give you all the facts, if available.

An example of quality reviews are SEO software reviews.

Don’t buy blindly; be informed, but get informed from reliable sources.
