Always Contact a Road Accident Solicitor Before Settling a Claim

A road accident solicitor group has warned motorists that they risk losing out on the compensation to which they are really entitled because of car insurance companies misleading them.

In the event of a road traffic accident, many motorists report being contacted directly by the responsible driver’s insurance company offering to settle the claim. In these events the insurance companies allegedly mislead consumers into believing that consulting a road accident solicitor would complicate the claims process, make it more expense and cause it to take longer. The insurance companies then offer to settle the claims early and many consumers, fearing that the process would otherwise be too complex, agree. Unfortunately, it is widely claimed that in these circumstances, motorists are commonly being ripped off because they are being offered compensation payments which are much lower than what they are actually entitled to. As a result, they may also miss out on treatment for injuries that they may have been entitled to.

This practice has come to be known as ‘third party capture’ and is proving common. Sadly, many motorists are losing out on the justice they deserve because insurance companies are putting them off speaking to a road accident solicitor who could really help them. The danger here is that victims are offered compensation for damage to their vehicles which might actually be under the market rate, as well as missing out on their injuries. Perhaps most dangerous of all is the fact that victims might lose monetary help for any treatment they might need.
