Cheap Sites Should Look Expensive | How to get an expensive looking cheap website

March 19th, 2010 by admin

There are a lot of places that offer cheap sites for business start ups, non-profits, new professionals or artists. The one problem is that they LOOK cheap!

No one wants to put up a website that makes them look bad. So why do all these cheap web site services put up such ugly templates for people to choose from? I honestly don’t know. There are plenty of very attractive, professionally designed website templates available so there’s no excuse for it.

So what should you demand from a low cost website company?

1) You should insist on a selection of templates that are attractive and appropriate for your needs. You shouldn’t have to settle for an artists template if you’re a new business owner. And you shouldn’t have to put up with a corporate image if you’re a non-profit.

2) The process or buying your website should be fast and easy. Just because you’re only spending $197 for a website shouldn’t mean the process of choosing and paying should be long and arduous. Expect an easy two step process.

3) Cheap website should mean exactly that: Low Cost! A cheap web site should be no more than $200. Maybe that sounds expensive to you but you’ll be hard pressed to find something for under $200 that doesn’t look hideous or function badly. Because the last thing you want is a website that is so awful or difficult to work with that you’ll never update it.

4) Don’t get a free website. There are plenty of outfits offering free websites. You just have to pay for hosting. And that’s where the problems begin. The hosting is more expensive. Also, you don’t own your website. If you decide to move it or upgrade it, you find out that the “free” company owns your website and the URL where it is.
